Gilbert Youth Athletics Presents Crush Kickball!

Kickball is one of the most popular recreational sports in the country. Created in the early 1900’s, and mostly played in elementary school yards, kickball has been a favored sport for generations. Since there is no specialized equipment, or the need for highly skilled positions, kickball has become an accessible sport for all ages.

The Crush youth program is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop player self-confidence, foster good sportsmanship, encourage peer role modeling and most of all, create a fun and safe environment for Arizona youth. It is the hope that the Crush league will not only make a difference in your child’s life, but for the many youth throughout our communities. We are thrilled that you have decided to join us on this journey. We look forward to seeing you on the field.

Division Descriptions

4-7 (Kinder-2nd Grade)
In this division, youth work on the basic fundamentals of coordination as it relates to kicking, throwing and base running. An introduction to basic kickball rules is accomplished while focusing on fun, fitness, and teamwork. Coach and parent involvement play an integral role in the youngest division by creating an encouraging environment which offers positive reinforcements. Special rules such as mandatory position rotation and no official score keeping makes this division the perfect introduction for our youngest players.

8-10 (3rd Grade-5th Grade)
In the 8-10 division, focus remains on the fundamental skills using hand-eye coordination while throwing, kicking and fielding. Knowledge of kickball rules expands and positional play is introduced while stressing the importance of teamwork. Children in this division begin to develop competitiveness with their peers. Through more situational play, kids learn effective communication with teammates which translates to more successful team fielding situations.

11-13 (6th Grade-8th Grade)
Different kicking techniques, base-running skills, and fielding through designated positional play helps develop the middle school player. Beginning pitching and differentiating between balls and strikes are taught so that outs can be recorded and official score can be reported. While games can be competitive, and intense, good sportsmanship and respect is stressed not just for their specific Crush team, but for all opponents, coaches, umpires and parents on and off the field.

14+ (High School)
In the high school division, play is advanced through the increased development of pitching techniques, refined kicking skills and exceptional base running. Leadership growth along with a positive attitude and continued respect make up a big component of this division.
